The University of Oregon's Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) leads the University in its commitment to a campus environment that is enriched and informed by the personal, cultural, and intellectual differences of its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. OIED brings together an administrative management staff under the leadership of Vice Provost, Charles Martinez and includes Assistant Vice Provosts Carla Gary, Emilio Hernandez, and Tom Ball to facilitate collaboration on diversity initiatives throughout campus. OIED oversees the activities of the Office of Multicultural Academic Support (OMAS), the Many Nations Longhouse, and the Center on Diversity and Community (CoDaC).
OIED prioritizes initiatives that serve the diversity goals and education mission of the university by facilitating collaboration on diversity initiatives throughout campus and the external community, providing diversity professional development opportunities, programming, funding, and support, and serving as a hub for information, resources and expertise regarding equity and diversity issues with the goal of enhancing institutional fairness and equality, eradicating discrimination, and celebrating the strengths of a multicultural community.
